What Corpus Christi does to a window
Corpus Christi is one of the windiest cities in the country, and the wind almost always comes from the southeast, off the Gulf and across Corpus Christi Bay. That is what makes the bayfront pleasant and what coats the glass. Homes along Ocean Drive, Shoreline Boulevard and the streets behind them in Lamar Park and Alameda face straight into it, and a salt haze shows up on the east-facing panes within two or three weeks of a clean. Farther in, along Staples Street, Everhart Road and out to the Southside, the salt is lighter but it never stops, and the wind brings dust with it whenever the pastures west of town dry out.
The second problem comes out of the ground. Corpus Christi tap water carries a very high mineral load, and sprinklers in Kings Crossing, the Lakes and the newer streets off Yorktown Boulevard and Saratoga Boulevard throw it onto the lower panes every morning. Left alone it dries into a white crust that regular washing will not touch. On the Southside, the neighborhoods along Oso Bay and Oso Creek, from the Bay Area out past Ennis Joslin Road, get bay humidity on top of that, so shaded north glass and screens hold mildew for most of the year. Calallen, up by the Nueces River, trades some of the salt for caliche dust and live oak pollen in spring.

How often should windows be cleaned in Corpus Christi?
Quarterly keeps the salt haze, dust and sprinkler spots under control for most homes on the Southside, in Calallen and in the older neighborhoods off Alameda. Bayfront homes on Ocean Drive and along Oso Bay pick up salt within weeks and do better every month or two. Most people have the inside glass done once a year.
Can you remove the hard water spots from my sprinklers?
In most cases, yes. Corpus Christi water is heavy with minerals, and the white crust it leaves on the lower panes needs a dedicated treatment rather than a regular wash. Tell us about the spots on the quote form and we will look at them on the first visit and tell you honestly what will come off.
Do you clean after a hurricane or tropical storm?
Yes. Once it is safe to work we go through the plan list and clean the salt and grit the wind drove onto the glass and into the tracks. If your storm shutters or panels are still up we clean what is reachable and come back for the rest once they are down.
